Summer, 1977. Six drivers, one ghost town, and a trunk full of rockets. The desert belongs to whoever's still driving.
The dust can wait.

Free-for-all in a desert ghost town. Grab weapon crates, wreck everyone else, and be the last car running. Green crates repair you, purple ones refill your special. You carry three heavy weapons at a time: a crate of a fourth throws out the one you have least of.
The machine gun fires by itself at any car in its sights, and holding a hard turn at speed drifts. Either can be switched off in Settings.
Every heavy weapon has an attack combo and a defensive combo. Each costs 3 ammo.
| Homing missiles | Rattler volley · Decoy flare (pulls missiles off you) |
| Rocket pods | Rocket fan · Tail gunner (fires out the back) |
| Mortar | Carpet barrage · Smoke screen (breaks lock-ons) |
| Mines | Mine toss · Kickback (throws everyone off you) |
| Torch | Fireball · Ring of fire |
A three-lap race from the open desert into the canyons. At each fork you choose: the mine shaft (narrow, and homing missiles can't follow you in) or the sandy dry wash; the cliff road high above the canyon (fall off and you land on the road below) or boulder alley; the gorge jump (fastest if you land it) or the switchback. Steer round the boulders and keep out of the sinkholes. Weapon crates line the route.
Plates in the road belong to whoever drives over them first. Your machine gun is locked until you hit a sword plate, and every sword hands you a heavy weapon (heavier the further back you are). A shield plate soaks up most damage for eight seconds. A skull sets off the next hazard ahead: a rockfall, or a tanker truck coming down the road the wrong way. Tuck in behind another car for a slipstream. Wreck and you're back on the track three seconds later, at the start of that stretch, with half your armour and no heavy weapons.
Homing missiles lose you behind buildings and in smoke. Rockets fly straight, so line them up. Mortars arc over cover. Red barrels and gas pumps explode. Ramps and dunes launch you, and the water tower can come down on someone's head.
